Hello, I’m Xander. I am a proud member of Princeton’s third transfer cohort that came from Saddleback College in Southern California. I study within the Department of Politics; specifically, within its track in American Ideas and Institutions. At the University Center for Human Values, I am pursuing a certificate in Values and Public Life. I am also trying to learn French (mais, pour un étudiant vieux, le français est très difficile!).
At Princeton, I am the vice president of the Princeton Transfer Association, a transfer student-led organization that advocates for transfer-friendly policies and serves to strengthen Princeton’s small community of transfer students. I am also a member of the Princeton Legal Journal, the University’s only student-run law review. Finally, as one of the University’s few student veterans, I am a member of the Princeton Student Veterans.
Outside Princeton, I am an ambassador at Service to School, a non-profit organization that provides free mentoring to service members and veterans applying to college. I also work with Warrior-Scholar Project, another military-focused non-profit that conducts preparatory academic courses in partnership with America’s top-tier institutions. There, I have tutored writing for their program in humanities.
I have many hobbies, including photography, cycling, graphic design, bartending, third-wave coffee and all things nature. In Princeton, I am accompanied by my partner, Jenna, and our fifty-pound, four-legged vessel of anxiety, Bishop.
I’m passionate about helping out prospective applicants—especially other transfers and veterans—so do not hesitate to reach out to me. Cheers!
