Makenna May ’17

Major: French Language and Literature Hometown: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

I’m Makenna, a happy member of Princeton University’s Class of 2017! I grew up in Chicago, and my parents now live in northern Idaho - but I’ve quickly fallen in love with the East Coast and enjoy living in New Jersey. Outside of class, I am a Peer Career Advisor at Career Services and am a Peer Academic Advisor, and I have two great jobs on campus at Princeton’s Firestone Library and at the Butler College Office. In 2014, I spent six weeks studying abroad in Switzerland through one of Princeton University’s Global Seminars, which, among other things, increased my affinities for dark chocolate and French. I then spent my junior fall abroad in Paris. A few of my favorite things are biking in the summertime, frequenting local ice cream shops with friends, going grocery shopping (especially if coupons are involved!), and trying new recipes. I am a huge fan of waking up early, warm socks, oatmeal, and crossing items off of to-do lists. My favorite thing about Princeton would have to be feeling truly empowered by my supportive professors and friends here.
